When You Pray, Say…, #1
Luke, a native of Antioch in Syria, was said to be the only non-Jewish writer of the Bible. A physician, Dr. Luke, was not an eyewitness on what he wrote about. Taking advantage of his great sources, he pointed out special healings Jesus used throughout His life. Luke wrote the book around AD63 for us who came after him to know the certainty of the things we have been taught (Luke 1:3, Acts 1:1).
Jesus―like with his disciples― gives―us provisions. He called His disciples and upon healing, preaching, and teaching, He went to a mountainside to pray. He knows about praying. In addition to the 12 disciples he appointed, He picked 72 others and sent them out two-by-two to every town and place where He was heading. Jesus commenced a prayer model for us to follow, notice that it is not a joint relationship with He, the disciples, you and me. It is a prayer, a model, for the redeemed of the Lord. In addition to our biological fathers, we have a Father who we can reach 24 hours a day. He never sleeps or slumbers. He loves to hear from us. This father inhabits our individual praises, honor, and glory.
