Being immersed does not make you squeaky clean. You’ve got to be born again by confessing your sins to the Lord Jesus. You’ve got to turn from your wicked ways. And if not, you will simply go into the water as a sinner and come up as a wet sinner! You must be squeaky clean, which is untainted, unsullied, and pure of heart.
